Amherst Chapter Activities
|
|
- Planning: To plan VSEI activities at Amherst, local volunteers hold a meeting once every month. There are at least two official meetings with the President of VSEI organization every year. Some of the points are:
Set short and long term goals
Review our progress
Consider new proposals/projects.
Make new volunteers aware of VSEI activities.
- Fund drive: Once every year we arrange a fund drive. During the fund drive, volunteers speak to people in person and request them to donate for various VSEI donation schemes. This is the most crucial part of the whole exercise since most of our fund raising is done this way.
- Publicity: We setup publicity tables at various events (for example cultural events organized by Indian Students Organization in the respective University) to make people aware of VSEI's work/activities. We sell greeting cards and accept donations at such events.
- Movie shows: Volunteers regularly show recent Indian films using a projector. These shows are used as a platform to make people aware of VSEI’s work/activities. We sell greeting cards and accept donations at such events.
- Get in touch with the project: Most of our Volunteers are students. Once every one or two years when they go back to India, they get to visit the local VSEI funded Educational Institutions. Volunteers try to aces the progress and needs of VSEI funded activities. The visits are important for mutual trust and exchange. We always try to supply resourceful material, make future proposals in such visits.
Two of our Volunteers got the opportunity to visit some schools in India last year (read more)
